Light showers spread across the sky giving new life.
Golden rays of the sun shone through announcing the
arrival of spring.
The soft twittering of birds echoed across the valley. A
mother carried her cub to the river side and taking its
first steps, the cub stepped into a pool of cooling spring
water.
People had besmirched these creatures thinking they were
heartless killers when really they were gentle. The cub
was shaking like a leaf when the cold violent winds
whirled up around the two. The mother carried her cub to
safety as a thunderous crash sounded in the air: Rain
began to pour.
The rain was a soft blanket covering the valley with its
clear thread, winds blowing in unison breathing life into
everything it touched. As night fell a deep mist shrouded
the valley. The valley within became dark and a sense of
foreboding hit the inhabitants.
Through the mist a voice spoke in an unknown language but
the animals understood every word perfectly. Calls from
the animals were echoed for miles. Menicingly the voice
ordered them to obey the laws of old. Many became
recalcitrant, not wanting the events of long ago to occur
again.
Thicker became the mist and the smell of old blood hit the
air. The howling of nearby wolves and twittering of
numerous birds joined the air as well. The mist finally
cleared ; the pandemonium stopped.
Everything was slovenly. The mist had left plants in ruin,
a faint smell of blood still hung in the air. The pack of
wolves headed towards the river. As the pack of wolves
came closer to the river the aroma of blood became
stronger. When they finally reached the once peaceful river
a sudden state of shock came over them. Where the deep
azure water had once flown was now a wide expanse of dark
blood.
In the middle of the river an island had formed. Situated
on the island was a crystal prism. The leader of the pack
analyzed the crystal before settling down to rest.
As dawn closed in around the valley the ground began to
shake violently. The wolves, albeit disorientated from
just waking up, looked around them over to the prism as it
began to rise into the air. It shone like the sun itself
before it shattered. A dark light emitted from it, a huge
contrast with the light sky surrounding it. As the
brilliant black dyed down from the sky a tower began to
form in its place. The crystal tower resided to the ground
sitting in the middle of the crimson river. At the top of
the tower stood a girl. Not quite human but not quite
beast either. Her long blonde hair tinting purple as it
blew in the wind and her eyes of a deep indigo stood out
from their surroundings. She formed in her hand a red
stone speaking the same language as the voice of the mist.
Then with a barely perceptable nod she vanished.
With her disappearance the mist spread out again causing
change. The animals began to mutate into unimaginable
creatures, some with leathery wings, others with foot long
claws and scales. These creatures began to act violently,
attacking any other moving object in the forest. Mutated
wolves stood guard around the tower wary of everything.
Up in said tower Yukie Akei the girl of the mist sat.
Darkness of the room she sat in was disturbed by the red
aura that was emitting from her skin. Behind her sat the
blood crystal: The key to the lower hell. No longer using
the voice of the mist she called forth Kuragarithe demon
of the night."Yes Mistress." The demon growled stalking
through the gate."It's time." She stated in a monotonous
tone looking out toward the fortress town just beyond the
valley."Mistress Akei, it seems the people of Genesis know
of our where abouts and may be preparing a confrontation
with us as we speak."Kuragari growled. "Ok, go now and set
the blood spirit free. Then summon the shadow of the
mist." Yukie calmly ordered. Kuragari left the room.
Yukie spun around her blonde hair flowing through the air
behind her.She strode over to the door slamming it as she
entered the corridor leading to the lower chambers.
Entering a room to the right she pushed a few buttons. Dim
lights flickered on and a soft humming filled the
room."Well lets see how Her Holiness likes this."
The people of fort Genesis did indeed know of what was
taking place as they felt the tremors and saw the ghastly
tower."Sir, it seems it is time." the guard said looking
through the narrow arch window."Hmm. It seems that way
doesn't it?" Tayel the leader of the fort defenses
replied."Go alert Her Holiness." he commanded, eyes not
once wavering from the tower."Sir!"the guard ran out of
the room.
"Her Holiness!"the guard bowed. "What is it?" Her Holiness
asked. "The gate to the lower hell has been opened and the
demon Kuragari has been summoned. Furthermore there are
rumors going around that Yukie Akei is behind it." he
took a deep breath and looked over to Her Holiness."That
could be deemed a problem..." she said, a pensive
expression taking over her features. "Fine gather
everyone and tell them of our situation. Then place guards
at every post until further instruction." with that said
she strode out of the room leaving the guard to take care
of her business.
Her Holiness stood at her window. She gazed out to the
valley. It almost calmed her but that tower. That tower
was the one thing that still sent a wave of fear through
her. If it was true that Yukie was behind all of this then
she knew Genesis hadn't much of a chance. As she stood
there in thought a huge explosion was heard from
outside.Rushing out into the cold night air she realised
the fort was under attack. Boom! The numerous bangs and
crashes were a clash with the silence not two minutes ago.
Her Holiness ran down the winding corridors. Skidding to a
halt she smashed the door open."TAYEL!" She shouted. He
wasn't there. He wasn't in his room but as Her Holiness
examined a nearby table she found a note.'Gone to see
what's going on. Gather everyone down in the catacombs.'
Her eyes widened as she read the last part."Down in the
catacombs.." she mumbled to herself. Another loud crash
sounded and to Her Holiness' dismay the ground began to
crumble.
She jumped over fallen tables and statues, ducked under
collapsed beams and ran out into the night air. Pained
screams rang through the air and the sound of metal to
bones made Her Holiness' stomach churn. Turning on her
heal she made a dash for the cathedral. Booming roars were
released into the darkness behind her. A creature that
seemed made up of just scales, claws and sharp jagged teeth
lunged at her from the darkness. The only thing she was
awear of were those teeth getting closer, closer and then
darkness...
